Update: Little Boots, Yes Giantess, Plastiscines

Friday, September 18th, 2009

This was the third time I got to see Little Boots ( see previous accounts: Fader Fort CMJ 2008 photo gallery; (Le) Poisson Rouge May 2009 review and photo gallery) and each time is definitely as fun as the last.

Update: Girl in a Coma and Miss Derringer

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Last Friday, I got to cover the last of the Summerwood 2009 shows featuring Miss Derringer and Girl in a Coma for Popnography. Fun was had and I was home at a reasonable hour (always a plus!). The venue was only half full, but the show was energetic and the lights, fantastic.

Update: NIN/JA 2009

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Sunday night, I got to finally experience my first good arena shoot. Nine Inch Nails, the reunited Jane’s Addiction and Street Sweeper Social Club (featuring Boots Riley and Tom Morello)put on a great and lively show.

Update: Little Boots

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

I first saw Little Boots during CMJ 2008 at the Fader Fort (photo set from the show) because it was the band everyone was talking about (or, at least, one of them).  It was exciting to see her again despite the fact that (Le) Poisson Rouge once again turned their space upside down. This time, instead of a dance floor full of tables and chairs, they rolled out a circular stage into the middle of it and we had to make do.

Update: Franz Ferdinand and Born Ruffians

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Last Thursday I went to see one of my favorite live bands, Franz Ferdinand, at Roseland Ballroom (perhaps not my most favored venue). It was much more expansive than their previous two small gigs in NYC and it was a pleasure taking photos, first from the photo pit and then from behind the barricade, alternating pogoing with photoing.

Born Ruffians opened, but did not impress.

Up next: Shooting Little Boots next week. Perhaps posting several reviews in the meantime…
