Last night I visited the Mercury Lounge for the first time (something, usually my age, always prevented me from seeing a show there). And The Grates were the perfect band to see there; because of its low stage and intimate atmosphere, Patience hopping down and twirling her ribbon while enclosed in a circle of fans felt like the natural progression of the fun.
The band had played SXSW a few days before, and it was good to have them stop by on the way back to Australia, their last show in the US was back in 2006.
