Here is where electro-pop lives up to its name, though it’s slightly more pop and a tad less electro – unlike selections from Ladytron’s previous albums, such as ‘Light & Magic’. More alive and instrument-laden, ‘Sugar‘ is sure to set hips swiveling and head nodding coolly. And with lines like ‘If I give you sugar / will you give me / something elusive and temporary?‘, it carries a sharp edge while managing to show that the music is far from sexless.
‘Sugar’ has spawned more remixes than you can count on one hand, but to appreciate the tight production you need only to listen to the original.
